LOCATION
In most noble part of Le Marais, near St Paul and famous Place des Vosges
- Bus 96 is a great link to Left Bank - metro line 1 nearby (St Paul)
- Walking distance from Ile St Louis and Notre Dame de Paris
- near lively area of rue St Antoine and not far from fuzzy Bastille area and its modern Opera House, from Bofinger old Brasserie restaurants, and all other treasures of Le Marais (Goumanyat fabulous spice shop, Carnavalet Museum, Place Ste Catherine and its small restaurants, etc...).
Nice bakeries just across the street, a couple of restaurants are just downstairs, supermarkets and many other shops and restaurants are steps away.
In a rather grand stylish decor for the bigger one, both Bofinger brasserie-like restaurants, near Bastille, offer delicious cuisine; the touristic menu offers great moments of pleasure at a reasonable price.
A little further, in rue de la Roquette, the Blue Elephant brings Thai flavours to Paris in an already famous way.
In case you are American and you'd be homesick, the corner rue St Paul/rue Charles V is a charming grocery store offering, among many other things ... root beer.... Dr Pepper.... which you usually can't find in a regular French supermarket or grocery store.
But if you feel like a little walk for a good little Italian dinner at a very reasonable price, and you want to try the (truly) best pasta in Paris, then have a 10 minutes walk to Angelo Procopio, between 89 and 91 rue St Honoré (be careful, not rue du Faubourg St Honoré), not far from Chatelet, before reaching Le Louvre : Angelo is one of those Italian virtuosos, he makes the pasta himself from A to Z, you can take away or eat there (it is no big place) ... there is a chance you will want to return to try the rest of the delicious meals Angelo can offer !
Just a few steps further on the same sidewalk, before reaching rue de l'Arbre Sec, a small takeaway Thai place is also a must for gourmets who like Thai cuisine.
Nearest metro station is St Paul (on convenient line 1 leading to Hotel de Ville, Chatelet, Le Louvre, Tuileries Gardens, Concorde Square, Champs Elysées, La Défense, and also to Bastille, Gare de Lyon, Nation, Vincennes park and zoo)
Bus line number 96 is also a nice link to other areas of Paris : it goes to Hotel de Ville then crosses all the Left Bank area between St Michel and Montparnasse over rue St Sulpice and rue de Rennes. It also goes up to Menilmontant where many artists have settled down.
Other bus lines are also stopping nearby.
